stress updates

This is weird. I mean, who would want to be updated with somebody else's stress issues?

Well, since my previous post is about stress, and I have to write another for my PERSEF2 class (Personal Effectiveness 2), I figured I would make the two posts related.

So that's why this is an update.

So here goes...

-> I've had more pimples. *groan

-> I gained weight. (I know it's a common idea that stress makes you thinner, but apparently, it's not true. At least in my case, unfortunately.)

-> My heart feels warm, enveloping, genuine gratitude and love at the sight of my bed.

-> This blog is nilalangaw. ( busy with stuff... no time to bother posting something nobody but me would read)

Let us take a look at the most generous in terms stress contribution in my life right now - college!

(not in any particular order)

extra-curricular:

Math Circle AVP-Publications. And kapal naman ng mukha ko pag sinabi kong nasestress ako dito. I have no right to say that I am because what I'm doing is nothing compared to the other higher ranking officers. And I feel that I should be doing a lot more for this organization.

La Salle Debate Society. This is truly an update from my previous post. I said there that the commune sessions(trainings for freshers) would only be for the first term. How stupid of me to think that after these beginner's trainings, I would have a lighter schedule in DebSoc. Naturally, normal trainings would be harder than a beginner's training. When before, we only had meetings once a week, now, it's three times a week (two of them, whole day). Not to mention, a lot tougher. I'm so stupid, I don't deserve to be in this org. :)

Research Assistantship. No comment. Shoot.

Ahhh... and ofcourse, THE ACADS.

Hmm, let's see. My status message on YM right now is "hell week". We have 4 exams this week, and in case you don't know, La Salle only has 4 school days per week. This isn't even the exam week yet, so we still have all the other classes to attend. And that is still without the fact that each subject is hard as hell. Good thing I have twilight to look forward to this weekend.

Brainwashing myself: I love studying! I love maths! I love studying! I hope this week never ends! :((

Oh well... Life would've been boring without all of these, anyway. :)

It's gonna be a busy year, I can tell...

Hmmm… let’s see. I joined Philseds (Philippine Space Explorations thingy), although I do not expect it to be a very demanding org. Anyway, I also became an AVP Publications for Mathematics Circle, requiring of me frequent after class meetings and some org stuff assignments, quite easy still to manage with my studies. But then I also joined the Debate Society. Well, they said high school debate experience is not required, and I’m interested. And there’s no harm in trying. And Anne’s only got one shot at life, one shot at college, and shortened to three years at that! Joining the Debate Society and learning how to debate from one of the nation’s most distinguished debating organizations, all for the low low price of a hundred and fifty pesos, is I think, a very rare opportunity. So I grabbed it. It would also, of course, require of me time and effort as regular meetings will be scheduled for the trainings. And last but not the least, the Service Requirement for SFA scholarship grantees is looming ever closer. It’s going to start on the second term of this year and I chose to be a Research Assistant. It means that I’m gonna be an assistant to University Fellows (University fellows: high ranking Professors, I think). I am required to fill this role for a total of 45 hours a year or 15 hours per term. Which means that this is gonna take up effort and more importantly, a great part of my already diminished free time. Actually, I have the option to choose my service as a “High ranking officer of a professional organization” since I’m an AVP of MathCircle, but I’ve heard that these assistantships are also a great experience, and a great addition to the resume. So I chose it. Right now, however, I am starting to think that I might have chosen wrong. But I realized that since the debate communes would only last for one term, and the research assistantship would start the term after that, I could handle it. But of course, academics will still have to be the top priority. But I wouldn’t be able to forgive myself if I graduated college without an active extra-curricular life, even if I graduate Summa Cum Laude. But I also think, that I would be quite disappointed if it turns out the other way around, you know, without at least a Laude. Haha, lakas mangarap. And so it means, that it’s gonna be a busy year this year, and next year.
There’s a bee in the room! Aaaaaahhhh!!!

This space needs a little make-over, I think.

It has been sooo loooong....

... so long... since I've last written something here.

Anyway.

Bakasyon na, and I'm currently in the process of rereading the whole Harry Potter series (1 to 7) for the nth time. I know that there are so many other good books out there I can read, but it seems that I can't bear the sight of my beloved HP books sitting quietly on the shelves, a thin film of dust settling on their lovely covers.
It's just not Harry all throughout, though. I've just finished reading the book Jaki lent me, Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. So now, I read Oliver Twist (why? wala lang. as in.) when I feel like it (cus I'm still not finished with the HP series). Then after that, I'll borrow, once again from Jaki, The Giver. I also try to read my Statistics book. But that needs a lot of encouraging.

What books interest you? What's your favorite book? Tagboard!

Tings You Can Learn From Your Dog

- When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

- Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

- Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.

- When it's in your best interest -- practice obedience.

- Let others know when they've invaded your territory.

- Take naps and stretch before rising.

- Run, romp, and play daily.

- Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

- Avoid biting, when a simple growl will do.

- On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

- On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.

- When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

- No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout... run right back and make friends.

- Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

- Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

- Be loyal.

- Never pretend to be something you're not.

- If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

- When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
